A man was charged yesterday with killing a mother of seven during a domestic dispute on Abaco.
Barry Swain Jr., 27, of Murphy Town, Abaco, faced a charge of manslaughter in the December 26, 2020, death of Angelita Pritchard.
Police were called to Pritchard’s home in Crown Haven around noon. When they arrived, they met the 35-year-old unresponsive in a western bedroom of her home. The cause of death was asphyxia.
Police arrested Swain, Pritchard’s former boyfriend, a short time later.
Swain was not required to enter a plea to the charge when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle-Davis.
Swain, who is represented by Christina Galanos, was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services. However, he can seek bail in the Supreme Court.
Swain returns to court on March 3. That’s when prosecutors plan to fast-track the case to the Supreme Court by a voluntary bill of indictment.
