Sandals will offer its guests free COVID-19 testing when it reopens its Sandals Emerald Bay and Sandals Royal Bahamian properties on February 24 and March 31, respectively, a press statement from the company revealed.
In his first press statement on the company’s Bahamian properties as executive chairman of Sandals Resorts International since his father, former Chairman Gordon “Butch” Stewart, died on January 4, Adam Stewart said the company has been working closely with the Bahamian government to reopen both resorts as quickly as possible.
“We have heard from our customers all over the world that they can’t wait to get back to The Bahamas,” Stewart said.
“This demand echoes resilience as we see booking levels continue to increase day by day.
“We are confident in our product in The Bahamas and our unwavering commitment to selling the destination will continue to be the cornerstone of our sales and marketing strategy.
“Not only are we looking forward to opening our doors and sharing the beautiful Bahamas with our loyal guests once again, we also can’t wait to celebrate the homecoming of the resort team members who love and enjoy doing what they do every day – delivering exceptional hospitality. Brighter days are indeed ahead.”
Sandals said it will continue to monitor and update its protocols according to the United States’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – which recently announced all international travelers must submit a negative COVID-19 test before their departing flight back home – and as such will provide complimentary COVID-19 testing as of January 26.
“Tests will be conducted by approved and practiced medical professionals with our guests’ maximum convenience in mind and a minimal distraction to their overall vacation experience,” the statement noted.
Sandals Royal Bahamian’s employees would have been away from the property for one year when it reopens, whereas Sandals Emerald Bay reopened last July for about two weeks, until government reimposed lockdown measures as the country’s second wave of COVID-19 infections hit.
According to the statement, returning Sandals guests will meet a physically distanced environment with new health and safety measures built on the company’s “Platinum Protocols of Cleanliness” standards.
“While guests will see many enhanced protocols and procedures, behind-the-scenes measures have also taken place through employee training, additional food handling procedures and back-of-the-house operations,” the statement pointed out.
