Baha Mar has announced its plan to reopen two more hotels on its property beginning March 4.
The reopening of the SLS and Rosewood are a part of the resort’s second phase of reopening.
The announcement comes after Atlantis announced it would scale its operations and furlough more staff after experiencing challenges.
On the other hand, Baha Mar recounted its opening on December 17 was successful.
“After the highly successful December reopening of Grand Hyatt, Baha Mar Casino and a selection of restaurants and amenities, Baha Mar is thrilled to complete the final phase of our reopening and welcome our incredible guests back to enjoy all three of our world-class hotels beginning March 4th, 2021,” Baha Mar noted on its website.
“Guests can once again tailor their perfect Bahamian experience, as they choose between the richly refined Rosewood, the playfully hip SLS, or the stylishly modern Grand Hyatt. Each hotel offers stunning beach views, an epic selection of pools and access to an unforgettable variety of culinary destinations and experiences.”
For its opening week, Baha Mar reported 80 rooms sold and 160-guest occupancy. Just over 1,500 employees returned to work.
Baha Mar has not confirmed how many of its approximately 6,000 employees would return in the second phase of its reopening.
Hotel properties have had to shift their offerings in weeks after the United States’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced new travel protocols requiring all travelers entering the US via airplane to present a negative COVID-19 rapid antigen or RT-PCR test at the border.
In response, Baha Mar has offered to provide guests with two complimentary on-property rapid antigen tests per room, with the option to purchase additional tests for $17. Alternatively, the resort is providing RT-PCR tests at the property for $134 per person.
Baha Mar President Graeme Davis said earlier this month that the property had conducted more than 15,000 rapid antigen tests since reopening. That number included staff who are tested weekly.
