Police on Wednesday charged a 35-year-old man with the rapes of six teen girls.
Prosecutors allege that Latario Clarke, whose street name is “Muggy”, met his victims on Facebook.
Clarke, of Misty Gardens, allegedly lured the girls, ages 14 to 17, to various locations and raped them.
The incidents, police say, took place between May 6, 2020 and January 9, 2021.
In the final incident, Clarke is accused of child stealing in relation to a 14-year-old girl as well as the rape of a 17-year-old girl.
Clarke allegedly picked up both teens from a grocery store on Nassau Street before he took them to another location.
Prosecutors also accused Clarke of obstruction of justice.
Clarke was not required to enter pleas to the charges when he appeared before Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain.
He was denied bail and next returns to court on April 7.
At that time, prosecutors intend to fast-track his cases to the Supreme Court for trial.
Clarke was freed on $5,000 bail in August 2020 after he was accused of procuring a 13-year-old girl to have sex.
His father told the court that he wanted to withdraw as his surety.
On Monday, Commissioner of Police Paul Rolle said reports of sex crimes increased by 34 percent last year.
Rolle said there were 213 reported incidents in 2020, compared to 159 in 2019.
According to the statistics provided by Rolle, there were 158 reports of unlawful sexual intercourse, 50 reports of rape and five reports of attempted rape.
Thirty-nine rapes were reported on New Providence, nine on Grand Bahama and two on the Family Islands. There were 111 reports of unlawful sexual intercourse on New Providence, 16 on Grand Bahama and 31 on Family Islands.
