A man with a history of sexual assault was jailed for two years after he admitted to caressing a little girl’s thigh.
Alden Scott, 54, indecently assault the nine-year-old girl at her home on January 17, the court heard.
The court heard that Scott knows the child’s mother.
The girl told her mother that Scott made her feel uncomfortable when he sat on her bed and touched her thigh near her genitals.
The day before he touched the child inappropriately, Scott reportedly told the girl she was “tall and sexy”.
When arrested and questioned about the incident, Scott claimed that he touched the child while helping her onto the bed.
The investigating officers visited the home and determined that the child was tall and did not require assistance getting into bed.
Scott pleaded guilty to indecent assault at his arraignment before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.
He admitted that he had recently been released from prison for a similar crime for which he received a nine-year sentence.
Scott said that he had become a productive citizen since his release as he worked a variety of jobs.
He asked the court for another chance and argued that his imprisonment would not benefit society.
Scott asked the magistrate not to send him to prison and said he would be willing to be sentenced to “probation for 1,000 years”.
In sentencing, McKinney told Scott that he needed to conform to the rules of society.
