Caribbean Wines & Spirits launches ‘Tour de Vino’ wine subscription box with monthly line up of international libations

An international wine tour, giving people the opportunity to experience some of the world’s finest red, white, rose and sparkling selections is the premise behind the newly launched Caribbean Wines & Spirits’ (CWS) “Tour de Vino” monthly wine subscription club which launched in December 2019 which features two international wines, complimentary delivery, a monthly live digital wine tasting, and CWS product discounts.

CWS guided wine tour around the world will have club members exploring libations from Italy, the United States (Sonoma, Washington and Napa Valley), France, Spain, Argentina, Japan, New Zealand, Chile and Portugal. Members receive two bottles of premium wines selected from a different country, exciting pairings, which they get to experience via a wine-tasting Zoom series.

“We wanted to offer something new and exciting to Bahamian wines lovers via our ‘Tour de Vino’ wine subscription box,” said Christopher Duncombe, CWS wine & spirits manager, a purveyor of premium international wines, spirits and beers that was launched in December 2020 under its parent company, Caribbean Bottling Company (CBC).

Duncombe said the company is excited to roll out its January’s box which will be distributed during the third week and will feature wines from Italy – the Tenuta de Nozzole Le Bruniche Chardonnay Toscana as well as the Villa Matilde, Greco di Tufo DOCG.

Club members will receive the Tenuta de Nozzole Le Bruniche Chardonnay Toscana, from Toscana, Italy, a white wine which offers citrus aromas complemented by apples and peaches, with an outstanding acidity and long finish. It pairs well with fish, shellfish and chicken.

By contrast, the Villa Matilde, Greco di Tufo DOCG, from southern Italy, another white wine, offers a rich bouquet of ripe fruits, from white peach to apricot, and sweet almond that complements the wine’s mineral and citrus notes. On the palate, the wine’s vigorous taste is rich, complex and fresh at the same time.

Members will also receive an added bonus of a third wine in their box, the Caposaldo Chianti, from Toscana, Italy, according to Duncombe. The Caposaldo Chianti a red wine offers smooth, perfumed red fruit aromas, with a berry and cherry palate for a long, elegant finish. It pairs perfectly with hard cheeses, pizza, pasta dishes or grilled meats.

This box follows the club launch box in December. The featured red wine showcased a Cabernet Sauvignon from Sequoia Grove Winery, Napa Valley –classically rich featuring aromas of bright black cherry and blackberry, followed by baking spices and a hint of chocolate. On the palate, this Cabernet Sauvignon offers intense flavors of blackberry with round and smooth tannins, with subtle notes of toasted vanilla. Also featured in the lauch box was the sparkling Signature Brut from the estate of Bouvet Ladubay, Loire Valley, France. Pale straw in color with fine, pinpoint bubbles, the wine offers toast and fruit on the nose along with crisp citrus notes. Well-balanced acidity culminates in an elegant, persistent finish. It’s a wine that can be enjoyed with a wide range of seafood, white meat and dishes prepared with creamy sauces. Members were gifted a bottle of Angostura Single Barrel Reserve which the makers of this brand say “romances” the drinker from the very first sip as it’s exhilarating on the palate. It’s a rum aged in individually selected Oak Bourbon barrels to guarantee a superb mellow taste with notes of dried tropical fruits.

“Tour de Vino is intended to give wine enthusiasts a monthly tour around the world,’’ said Nikia Wells, Caribbean Bottling Company (CBC) marketing manager. “Each month we will be featuring a different international wine duo that will allow persons to get a taste of what the world of wine has to offer.”
