AML Foods sourcing product substitutes as supply chain woes mount

Global supply chain issues has forced AML Foods Limited to source substitute stock to replace items it is finding hard to get its hands on, the company has revealed in numerous social media posts and media ads.

The pandemic has strained manufacturers and has put a strain on labor like the world has not seen in recent times.

Ships are taking too long at ports to unload due to the labor issue. Trucker and container shortages alongside the maritime issues are driving shipping costs sky high.

AML is just another unfortunate retailer that has had to pass these woes over to customers.

“Unfortunately due to supply chain challenges and vendor out of stocks, certain items are not available,” the company stated in an ad.

“We ask for your patience as we look for quality substitutes at the same great prices you have come to enjoy and expect from our store.”

In a letter posted to the company’s social media pages, AML President and Chief Executive Officer Gavin Watchorn lamented the problems caused by the supply chain issues.

“As we deal with the pandemic and the subsequent supply chain challenges and out of stocks, our teams are working diligently to ensure we continue to provide you with quality products at great value,” Watchorn said.

“While we are all in uncharted territory, over the past 18 months we have adapted and faced the challenges head on and our relentless commitment to keeping our shelves well stocked and servicing our customers is stronger than ever.

“One behalf of all of us at AML, we are committed to serving you and delivering the best grocery experience, as we persevere together in all the days and years ahead. As we go forward we will continue to keep you updated and know that we always value your questions, ideas and feedback.”

The company also posted a frequently asked questions (FAQ) section to its social media pages, outlining some of the issues.

One FAQ addressed the shortage of some products on store shelves and

promised replacement products at affordable prices. “Currently there is a global supply chain disruption causing vendor out of stocks. However, we are working hard to source comparable substitutes at even better prices.”

The company mentions increased prices in one FAQ, but expressed the company’s diligence in keeping increases at bay. “Currently the world is experiencing supply chain disruptions, increased demand and shortages. But we are diligently working every day to lessen rising costs so that we can continue to provide you with variety, quality and value.”

Super Value expressed similar concerns on Monday, announcing that it would continue to keep costs stable until the end of the year.
