The Ministry of Tourism announced this week that Air Canada will begin direct flights from Toronto to Exuma beginning in December, adding that the increase in visitors will be of great benefit to that island.
Air Canada Vacations announced that beginning December 19, it will run its Airbus A220-300 every Sunday from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport directly to George Town, Exuma, until April 17, 2022.
“As the demand for leisure travel continues to grow, we’re ready to advance the recovery of our industry by meeting the needs of travelers from all walks of life,” Vice President of Air Canada Vacations Nino Montagnese said.
“We want to entice Canadians to dream of relaxation, adventure and sunnier days ahead. Exuma provides the perfect breathtaking backdrop for those dreams.”
Minister of Tourism, Aviation and Investments Chester Cooper added, “We are excited to welcome new and returning Canadian visitors who want to escape the winter weather, to visit and enjoy the beautiful Out Islands of Exuma. Air Canada Vacations’ direct flight from Toronto Pearson to George Town not only benefits travelers, but also the local community on Exuma.”
Air Canada also announced increased flights into the country’s main gateway beginning next month, as the Ministry of Tourism confirmed that beginning November 8, the airline will offer daily flights from Toronto to Nassau.
The Ministry of Tourism added that weekend direct flights between Nassau and Montreal will begin in December.
In January, Canada suspended airline service to all Caribbean nations until April.
The nation only recently loosened its border restrictions for travelers, which were in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
