Commonwealth Brewery Limited (CBL) revealed that its first day on its business-to-computer (B2C) platform – taking liquor orders for delivery in the midst of coronavirus (COVID-19) safety protocols – was successful, with CBL board member and Retail Director Ron Hepburn saying the company is pleased to resume sales and get back to work after six weeks of being barred from doing business.
Hepburn said in a statement that CBL has staggered the resumption of its services in order to maintain the safety of employees and customers.
“While we are pleased to be back at work after six weeks, we both value and agree with the government’s requirements for businesses to operate in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Hepburn.
“Today (yesterday), we relaunched our online sales platform https://ift.tt/2L4NX2y. Here, individual customers can shop online and have their purchases delivered to their homes or businesses within 24 to 48 hours. We are pleased to offer this service to our customers in New Providence, Grand Bahama and Eleuthera.
“Access to this business-to-computer platform will soon be reactivated in Acklins and Inagua.”
He added that curbside pickup is available in Acklins and Inagua but not yet on New Providence, Grand Bahama or Eleuthera.
“As more islands open for commercial business, we will be reopening for online and curbside service to those communities,” Hepburn said.
“While our retail business – 700 Wines and Spirits – slowly regains its momentum, CBL is also offering service to our business customers (mainly liquor stores and restaurants). CBL is also only offering delivery service as the method to receive purchases.”
According to Hepburn, CBL’s new measures to serve the public meet both The Bahamas government’s safety requirements as well as Heineken global safety standards related to COVID-19.
