A man who left home to buy gas canisters during the coronavirus lockdown was yesterday fined $250.
Police arrested Casie Bodie Sr, 39, of Augusta Street, when they met him walking on Ferguson Street around 8 p.m. on April 19.
Casey pleaded guilty to violation of lockdown at his arraignment before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.
He told the magistrate that he was headed home from a community shop to buy gas to cook.
In contrast, the prosecutor said that Bodie claimed he was on his way to the shop during the lockdown.
Bodie will spend three months in prison if he doesn’t pay the fine.
Another man appearing in the same court denied violating the lockdown.
Keino Knowles denied that officers found him outside his residence at Windsor Place during the lockdown.
He also denied a charge of assaulting a police officer.
McKinney allowed him to remain on $1,000 police bail and set trial for July 6.
