Police allegedly found a 23-year-old with a shotgun taken from a home during a break-in.
Prosecutors allege that Kelson Toutoute, of Lower Bogue, Eleuthera, stole the black Remington 12-gauge shotgun and two shotgun shells when he broke into Victor Collins’ home on April 11.
He is accused of receiving the stolen shotgun in addition to possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.
In respect of the firearm charges, prosecutors contend that Toutoute was found with the shotgun and a shotgun shell on April 30.
Toutoute denied all charges at his arraignment before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes.
The magistrate remanded Toutoute to prison as he lacked jurisdiction to consider bail for the charges.
However, Toutoute can apply for bail in the Supreme Court.
His trial is tentatively set to begin on Eleuthera on October 16.
