A pedophile has abandoned his appeal.
After consulting with his lawyer, Stanley Rolle, Fred Williams, 47, decided to drop his challenge to his February 2019 conviction for unlawful sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old boy. The age of consent for same-sex relationships is 18.
However, the Court of Appeal gave Williams credit for the five months that he had spent on remand while awaiting sentence.
He was convicted on February 8, 2019. His bail was revoked and he was remanded to prison, pending sentencing.
Williams was sentenced to five years in prison on July 22, 2019.
However, his appeal is against conviction. His lawyer Stanley Rolle asked the court to amend the start date of his five-year sentence.
According to the evidence at trial, Williams befriended the schoolboy and would give him rides.
Prosecutors alleged that Williams took the child to the BORCO fuel pipeline in Pinder’s Point and had him perform oral sex.
Neil Brathwaite, Erica Kemp and Zoe Maynard-Bowleg appeared for the Crown.
