Airbnb is assisting the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) members, including The Bahamas, to market their products to the world through dedicated Airbnb landing pages and email and social media advertising, a press statement on the partnership explained, adding that this initiative is part of Airbnb’s commitment to strengthen Caribbean communities during tough times.
Airbnb Policy Manager for Central America and the Caribbean Carlos Munoz said the company is eager to promote its product, which he contended is an important economic driver for The Bahamas and countries in the region.
“With the Caribbean continuing to reopen, we’re helping to usher in the safe return of travel to this wonderful region by shining a light on the many places to see and things to do,” Munoz said.
According to the press statement, the campaign will include multiple email newsletters about the destination, a dedicated landing page on Airbnb’s website and social media ads that promote Airbnb listings in The Bahamas. The material will also include The Bahamas’ current COVID-19 protocols for travel to the country.
“As part of this alliance, Airbnb and the CTO are launching a campaign leveraging Airbnb’s robust media platforms to market The Bahamas and other CTO member countries to millions of engaged Airbnb users,” the statement noted.
“The promotional landing page for this partnership will be unique to others worldwide. It will integrate multiple CTO member countries, promote homes in each destination and links to each country’s website.
“Airbnb has also pledged to share data with the CTO, including travel trends, to facilitate informed marketing decisions during this recovery period.”
According to the statement, the partnership is designed to help Caribbean countries rebuild their tourism products after the pandemic caused massive shutdowns of that industry.
Acting Secretary General of the CTO Neil Walters said Airbnb will help to expose what the countries in this region have to offer as the world begins to travel again.
“The partnership with Airbnb will help us to promote the region responsibly, by providing our members with a platform to showcase their destinations while at the same time highlighting the health safety measures that each has implemented to ensure that visitors can enjoy a safe Caribbean experience during this time,” Walters said.
Ministry of Tourism Director General Joy Jibrilu said in the statement that The Bahamas prides itself on offering accommodations for every type of traveler, contending that this country is currently a safe destination for leisure travel.
“After establishing streamlined health and safety protocols in 2020, we also now pride ourselves on ensuring that our destination is safe for visitors and locals alike, as we continue to navigate and adapt to the ever-changing world of travel today,” Jibrilu said.
