Bahamian tennis player Patrick Mactaggart continues to play well this season, recently winning the ACT Singles UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) Tournament in Key Biscayne, Florida.
Mactaggart outlasted No. 1 seed Benjamin Tichauer, of the United States, in the final, winning 3-4 (7-9), 4-1 and 4-3 (7-2) to win the tournament.
The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) is congratulating Mactaggart on playing well and winning the tournament.
Young Mactaggart had a bye in the round of 32, and in the round of 16 he defeated Luis Soloranzo, 4-2, 3-4 (8-10) and 4-3 (7-3). Mactaggart won by default in the quarterfinals and had his easiest match of the tournament in the semifinals.
In the semis, the young Bahamian knocked off American Marcos Tobi in straight sets, 4-2 and 4-2.
In the final, Mactaggart had to go to three sets before hanging on for the victory.
Mactaggart recently won the IC Club Junior Series U12 (Under-12) Tournament at BLTA’s National Tennis Centre and now has his second title of the year. He is looking forward to continued improvement.
“Patrick is performing well locally and internationally and we wish him all the best in his tennis journey,” stated a BLTA spokesperson in a press release.
Set for next weekend on the tennis calendar is the 2021 Junior Spring Classic. That event is scheduled for Thursday, March 25 to Sunday, March 28 at the BLTA’s National Tennis Centre. Entry forms should be e-mailed to the address bltasecadmin@blta.net before the entry deadline of 4 p.m. on Monday, March 22.
