Two men murdered in separate incidents

A man was shot and killed as he worked on a car along Pink Meadows Avenue, off Bellot Road, yesterday afternoon, prompting police to launch their second murder investigation in less than 12 hours.

According to Police Press Liaison Officer ASP Audley Peters, a lone gunman approached the victim, believed to be in his late 30s, as he carried out work on a vehicle, shot him and escaped on foot.

Just hours before that incident, around 6 a.m., Peters said a passerby discovered another man’s body in a graveyard off Boyd Road.

“A man discovered a male lying face down, lifeless, with severe injuries,” he said.

“The police were contacted and a short time later officers responded and discovered a male with severe injuries to the head. It appears that it may have happened overnight.”

Relatives of the man, believed to be in his early 40s, had to be restrained outside the cemetery as police processed the scene.

They wept uncontrollably as the man’s body was placed in the hearse and removed from the scene.

According to The Nassau Guardian’s records, the country’s murder count for 2020 now stands at 35.
