Warwick refutes closure reports

The Warwick Paradise Island hotel stated yesterday it has no plans to close its doors and lay off staff as a result of the government’s most recent travel restrictions.

The resort refuted social media reports that it and Hotel RIU Palace Paradise Island would close next week Tuesday until further notice.

Warwick General Manager Benjamin Davis said the resort is currently open and operating with guests in-house and is providing special offers for residents in the marketplace.

“No decision has been made to close our doors next week, which has been inaccurately reported by some members of the local media,” he said.

“Anyone with a query regarding the resort’s status can call the resort as well as view any potential statements on our website and our social media accounts. We believe it is important to communicate with our potential guests and we remain the source of that information, not false media reports.”

Guardian Business did not get clarification from the RIU up to press time.

Both hotels reopened on July 1, when the country’s borders were reopened, following a four-month lockdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both hotels boasted of new, extensive safety protocols and social distancing measures in line with the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation’s ‘Clean & Pristine, Responding to COVID-19’ program.
