A 27-year-old Jamaican national was remanded to prison after he denied firearms-related charges yesterday.
Police arrested Narado Whitter, 27, on July 28 when they allegedly found a 9mm pistol, 131 rounds of 9mm ammunition and a magazine when they searched his home at Leslie Estates.
Whitter pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of ammunition with intent to supply and possession of a component part of a firearm.
Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt remanded Whitter into custody since she lacks jurisdiction to consider bail for the charges.
She scheduled his trial for December 1. Whitter will remain in custody if a Supreme Court judge doesn’t grant bail.
