Aiming to inspire, entertain and teach

The Inspire Foundation will host a three-day Inspire International Music Festival which will include a concert, workshop and master classes with the intention of soothing the soul during these shifting times of COVID-19. The virtual event, it is anticipated, will be more than music, with workshops and masterclasses to help people cope, acquire new skills and enjoy music and entertainment of different genres from professionals around the world.

Paul and Tanya Hanna, musicians and educators, decided to host the festival from July 29-31, because they wanted to share how artists can be relevant during the pandemic and offer a platform for people to showcase their talent and knowledge.

“We aim to keep people inspired and motivated here in The Bahamas and around the world. We have to inspire ourselves to inspire others. Other musicians inspire musicians. Music brings balance to the soul. This is love,” said Tanya, co-founder of the Inspire Foundation.

The Inspire International Music Festival’s lineup includes more than 30 Bahamian entertainers and artists, including Karrington McKenzie, Vice Versa, Leo Jones, Ron Narayan, Aniska Johnson, Pamela Woods, Autumn Steel, Dr. Alvira Higgs, Tyrone Thurston and Terry Rogers.

It will also feature sounds of jazz, gospel, Bahamian calypso and classical, as well as limbo and fire dancing entertainment.

The Inspire Music Festival’s workshops and masterclasses will be held on July 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those interested in registering can visit https://ift.tt/3hsYVNo.

The Hannas, who have been teaching online for the past five years, said they were pleased with the lineup of presenters.

Topics on the agenda include coping mechanics – emotional, physical and financial.

Ron Narayan Jyoti from Israel will present “Heal the Heart” on overcoming emotional stress and offering tools one can use.

Autumn Steele from New York will speak on the “Music Business” – that it is more than just music.

Roger Ryan, a three-time Grammy nominee and Dove winner from Trinidad and Nashville, will present “Arranging the Secret Sauce”.

Adrian D’Aguilar will share his experience of a jazz ensemble. Lee B. Callender will teach vocal techniques, while Tanya will share proper breathing techniques.

The Inspire International event will be streamed via https://ift.tt/3hsYVNo.

The free concert featuring Bahamians artists located in The Bahamas and around the globe, will include Giveton Gelin, Roger Ryan, Paul and Tanya Hanna, Adrian D’Aguilar, Lee B. Callender, Theo Coakley of T-Connection and others, on Friday, July 31 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Inspire Foundation creates educational programs, with a successful “Prodigy” program where talented children between the ages of nine and 12 are discovered and taken on a recording journey to get an understanding of the music business.
