Bahamian collegiate soccer players continue their seasons

Bahamian collegiate soccer players continue to experience playing time as their respective seasons continue.

Kaitlyn Davies and the St. Andrews University Lady Knights are off to a slow start, dropping six of their first nine games. They compete in the Appalachian Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

The Lady Knights have a 3-6 win/loss record overall and are 2-5 in the conference.

Davies, a 5’4″ sophomore forward, has played in all nine games but started just one game. She has no goals, one assist, 10 shots and seven shots on goal for the season.

In their last match, a 3-0 victory over Carolina University Bruins, Davies played 26 minutes and was unable to register a statistic.

The Lady Knights will take on the Union College Dutchwomen in Barbourville, Kentucky, in their game. That game is scheduled for Saturday and will get underway at 11 a.m.

On the men’s side, Andre Roberts and Rashawn Hamilton have helped the Knights to a 6-3-1 record. They are 5-2 in the conference.

In their last game, they suffered a 2-0 loss to the Reinhardt University Eagles.

Roberts, a 5’8″ senior central midfielder, started the game for the Knights but didn’t register a statistic. 

Roberts had a season-high two shots on goal in the Knights’ game against the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD)-Savannah Bees in Savannah, Georgia, earlier this season. The two teams played to a scoreless draw in that game which was played at the SCAD Athletics Complex in Savannah.

Hamilton, a 5’11” junior defender, didn’t experience any playing time in the loss to the Eagles.

The Knights will host the Carolina University Bruins in their next game. That match is set for October 6 at 4:30 p.m. in Laurinburg, North Carolina.

Over in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II, competing in the South Atlantic Conference, Larry Noel and Wingate University Bulldogs are 4-4 in competition.

Noel, a 6’2″ freshman forward, has played in seven games so far but is yet to score a goal or register a point.

He played a career-high 30 minutes in their game against the Shaw University Bears on September 11 at the Wingate University Soccer Complex in Wingate, North Carolina. They will play their next game against the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters on Saturday October 9 in Harrogate, Tennessee.
