59 new cases

The Ministry of Health reported 59 new COVID-19 cases yesterday.

It said 49 cases were reported on New Providence, three on Abaco, three on Acklins, two on Grand Bahama, one on Eleuthera and one on Long Island.

Two additional COVID-related deaths were also confirmed, according to the ministry.

The ministry said a 50-year-old woman living on New Providence died yesterday morning.

It said a 60-year-old man, who was also living on New Providence, died on August 25.

The COVID-19 death toll is currently 46.

Officials said 14 deaths are under investigation.

So far, 2,276 COVID-19 cases have been reported in The Bahamas

New Providence still has the highest number of cases with 1,427 followed by Grand Bahama with 554.

There are 70 cases on Abaco.

Eight hundred and one people have recovered from COVID-19 since March.

Sixty-eight cases remain hospitalized.
