St. Fort signs with Seahorses Mikawa in Japan

Bahamian professional basketball player Mark St. Fort is moving up the ranks in the Japanese league as proven with his contract signing with Seahorses Mikawa in the Japanese B1-League, Japan’s first division. They will open their 2020-2021 season with a two-game series against Hitachi SRT in a Central Division matchup October 3-4.

St. Fort, a power forward, played in the B3-League, Japan’s third division, last season. He suited up for for the Saitama Broncos.

The Bahamian national team player had a good season for the Broncos, scoring a team-high 17.9 points per contest. St. Fort fell short of averaging a double-double on the season, recording 9.8 rebounds per game. He dished out 2.3 dimes per game, and played the second-most minutes on the team – 33.9 minutes per game. He played in 39 games.

St. Fort shot a team-high 62.1 percent from the field, and 30.6 percent from three-point territory. He had 49 three pointers on the season.

On the defensive side of the ball, he was able to come away with 2.0 blocks and one steal per game.

St. Fort and the Broncos were able to finish the season with a 19-20 win-loss record. They finished seventh overall and ended their season with two straight victories over Gifu Swoops.

St. Fort’s new team finished with a 18-23 record last season to finish second in the Central Division. Finishing first in that division was Kawasaki BT with a 31-9 record.

Also playing in the B1-League is Bahamian Kadeem Coleby who plays for the Akita Northern Happinets in the East Eastern Division. They finished the season at 19-22, and will tip off the season October 3-4 with back-to-back games against the Shinshu Brave Warriors Nagano.

St. Fort played at Warner University from 2010-2013. He also played overseas in Europe.
