Two young men have been charged with murder following separate shootings that took place a day apart.
Javardo Adderley, 18, who is also known as “Four, Four”, is accused of the February 18 shooting of Valdez McKinney at Wilson Track.
McKinney, 32, was sitting in the back of an apartment complex when a gunman, whom prosecutors allege is Adderley, killed him.
Adderley, of The Native Yard, East Street, was not required to plead to the charge.
Adderley’s attorney, Christina Galanos, said that an unidentified police officer slapped him in the face and kicked him about the body when he was arrested on February 21.
Galanos said that Adderley was an asthmatic and needed his inhaler at all time.
Adderley returns to court on May 13.
Murder at Toote Shop Corner
Berlin Belfort, 23, appeared in the same court charged with the February 17 murder of Kevon Storr at Toote Shop Corner.
Belfort was not required to enter a plea to the charge and has been denied bail.
He returns to court on April 15.
Defense lawyer Bernard Ferguson asked the court to make note of a bruise on Belfort’s face that was not present prior to his arrest.
