Man who exposed himself to girl said he was attracted to size of her butt

A man who exposed himself to a schoolgirl said he was attracted to the size of the child’s butt.

Joel Griffin, 29, made the admission after his arrest on March 24 for indecent exposure, the prosecutor told the court today.

Griffin pleaded guilty to indecent exposure at his arraignment on March 25.
The matter was adjourned to today for the prosecutor to read a summary of its case.

Sergeant 3605 Samantha Miah told the court that the sixth grade student at Palmdale Primary was walking on Madeira Street when Griffin walked alongside her with his penis and butt exposed.

During his police interview, Griffin said he was attracted to the size of the girl’s hip so he walked “towards her and walked alongside her with his pants below his hip” while showing his penis.

He told police that since his “hip was already showing he thought it would be sexy for his penis to show as well.”

Though Griffin has a criminal record, this is his first conviction for indecent exposure.

Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt has requested a psychiatric report before sentencing.

Griffin was lucid during the proceedings, but the magistrate said she wanted to “err on the side of caution” after Griffin admitted that he had previously been in Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre.

Griffin returns to court in May.
