The University of The Bahamas (UB) Mingoes has signed former Queen’s College Comets sprinter Paige Stuart for the upcoming fall semester.
“We are excited that Paige decided to join the Mingoes track program,” UB Track and Field Head Coach Ednal Rolle said. “She’s a proven sprinter and we hope to develop her into one of the top sprinters in the country.”
Stuart won silver medals in the under-20 girls 100 and 200 meters (m) at the 2020 BAISS Track and Field Championships. She clocked 12.79 seconds in the 100m and 25.97 seconds in the 200m.
“I’m thankful for the opportunity,” said Stuart, who intends to pursue a major in
biochemistry. “I expect great things in the program. I know I have to work on my endurance and consistency and I feel I will get there.”
Stuart said choosing to become a part of the Mingoes family was an easy decision for her.
“UB has a great program and a great coach,” she said.
Coach Rolle said he sees Stuart as a great addition to the program and hopes to continue strengthening the program.
“Paige has shown her potential on the track and all we want to do is take her to the next level in terms of her technique and achievement,” he said.
The Mingoes compete in 14 disciplines across the sports year – men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, men’s and women’s cross country running, men’s and women’s golf, women’s volleyball, women’s softball, men’s basketball, men’s soccer and men’s and women’s judo.
