Man charged with unlawful sexual intercourse

A man accused of sexually molesting a minor was yesterday denied bail.

Walter Gray, 24, faced two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse when he made his initial court appearance before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes.

Prosecutors allege that he raped a 13-year-old girl on November 9, 2019.

He allegedly violated the same girl at age 14 on April 21, 2020. Gray did not have to enter pleas to the charges.

He will plead to the charges when the matters are transferred to the Supreme Court for trial.

That will happen once Gray receives a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI) on July 20. Gray was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services because the magistrate doesn’t have the authority to consider bail for the offenses.

However, he can apply for bail in the Supreme Court.
