One Particular Harbour at The Pointe is expected to open on December 15, with 30 percent of its 128 condo/hotel units already sold, the development’s General Manager Larry Magor said yesterday, adding that The Pointe’s Margaritaville hotel is expected to open before the end of the first quarter of 2021.
Speaking to media yesterday, Magor said when One Particular Harbour opens next month it will employ 100 to 125 people, 98 percent of whom will be Bahamian. He added that most of the management team for the development has been employed.
This project will be the first new employment opportunity for Bahamians in the hospitality industry since the COVID-19 pandemic left many in the tourism sector unemployed.
The project developers have said that they will continue to hire as demand increases and expect a full staff compliment of about 400 when both One Particular Harbour and the Margaritaville hotel are fully operational.
“We found some tremendous talent,” said Magor. “We found some tremendous people who we really feel are going to contribute to the success of the brand.”
The development has been heralded as a turning point for Downtown Nassau, as the condo development brings the first homes to a city devoid of the modernity of urban life, something planners of the city say it desperately needs.
According to Magor, the launch of The Pointe’s sales and marketing machinery has been largely successful, even though the company has not been able to show the facilities because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said pent up demand for travel and the property’s opening will mean interest in the One Particular Harbour property will increase.
That property includes amenities such as a library, fitness room, bakery and restaurants. The condos sell from $500,000 to more than $5 million.
One Particular Harbour will have its debut in December as mega resort properties Baha Mar and Atlantis reopen to visitors after shutting down in March due to restrictions cause by COVID-19.
Meantime the Margaritaville beach resort is essentially complete, with most of the finish work to be done on the hotel’s waterpark, Magor said.
He explained that when the Margaritaville-branded hotel is completed, everything will be open to Bahamians.
“Margaritaville is probably one of the most approachable brands out there. We offer this facility to all,” Magor said.
“We really are anxious to show it off to the Bahamian people, also because we think it’s a brand that really speaks to the Bahamian culture.”
According to Magor, the properties will be following the COVID-19 protocols established by the Tourism Readiness and Recovery Committee, hotel management firm Aimbridge Hospitality and eventually Margaritaville resorts’ ‘The Coast is Clear’ plan.
He said all employees currently undergo a daily temperature check and will eventually undergo rapid testing. He explained that management will be given RT/PCR tests once per month.
