Although last night’s COVID-19 report indicated there were no new cases on New Providence, a revised report released by the Ministry of Health on Tuesday morning show that of the 28 confirmed cases in The Bahamas on Monday there were actually four cases on New Providence.
The Ministry of Health also revised the number of cases recorded on Exuma, from nine to five.
The remainder of the report remained unchanged.
Ten cases were recorded on Eleuthera, six on Grand Bahama, two on Andros and one on Abaco.
These new cases pushed the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in The Bahamas since the start of the pandemic to 7,012.
Eleuthera, which is seeing a spike in cases, has recorded a total of 127 COVID-19 cases. Eleuthera has recorded the fourth highest number of cases in The Bahamas.
There have been 5,308 cases on New Providence since March, 817 on Grand Bahama, and 180 on Abaco.
On Sunday, the prime minister announced a series of restrictions on Eleuthera in an effort curb the spread of the virus on that island.
Restrictive measures came into effect yesterday, including a 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew. Weekend lockdowns will start on Friday evening.
There are also restrictions on funerals and weddings and social gatherings and indoor church services are restricted. Bars, including those connected to restaurants, are also closed. Health officials have linked a rise in cases to local bars as well as a recent funeral.
Across The Bahamas there have been 5,035 recovered cases, including 92 yesterday.
The 28 new cases mean there was a positivity rate of 25.4 percent. The World Health Organization (WHO) standard is a positivity rate of no more than five percent over a 14-day period before economies reopen.
