As it prepares to welcome its first guests next month, Atlantis yesterday revealed more details about its long-awaited phased reopening, including its adoption of vacationing in place and custom-made offerings for families.
The resort is reopening during one of its typically busiest periods, resuming operations at its newly renovated Royal East Tower guest rooms and Harborside Resort villas on December 10. Its residential-style studios and suites at The Reef are slated to reopen on December 17.
While the Ministry of Tourism has abandoned its Vacation in Place (VIP) initiative, the resort stated that visitors staying on the property will be opting into this feature.
“To further ensure the safety, health and well-being of their guests and resort team, visitors to Atlantis Paradise Island will be opting in to vacation in place throughout the duration of their stay,” Atlantis revealed in a statement yesterday.
“The resort spans close to 200 acres with five miles of white sand beaches and tranquil azure waters, multiple pools, diverse dining, spa, golf, shopping, reimagined experiences customized with guests’ safety in mind, a multitude of attractions and other luxury amenities at their fingertips. Guests have more than enough to keep them entertained without ever having to leave the resort.”
The Ministry of Tourism has shifted its travel requirements for visitors several times in the past several months, landing finally on a policy stipulating that tourists and returning residents present a negative RT-PCR COVID-19 test and agree to be retested within five days of their arrival to the country.
Despite the new travel conditions and restrictions, Atlantis President and Managing Director Audrey Oswell said guests to the property will still create lasting memories.
“We are so excited to welcome back our loyal guests, families and new visitors to experience Atlantis Paradise Island and reconnect with themselves and their loved ones. Atlantis will reopen in planned phases and our highest priority is and will always be to ensure the health, safety and well-being of our guests, team members and community,” she said.
“To help reassure travelers, we have implemented our Atlantis Clean & Safe Promise, which meets international and local standards for health and safety protocols. Our guests will receive heartfelt service and create lifelong memories by being immersed in our authentic Bahamian culture, experiences and attractions available throughout our lush resort grounds.”
The resort said many of its amenities – including its casino, marina, Mandara Spa, Ocean Club Golf Course, restaurants, shops including those at Marina Village, Aquaventure, Dolphin Cay, and its marine habitat – are reopening with personalized guest experiences enforcing physical distancing measures.
“Upon reopening, Atlantis will also unveil new bespoke experiences curated for families, small groups, and couples. From exclusive family adventures at Dolphin Cay and private sunset speedboat tours to art tours, shark and mermaid camps, secluded dinners on the beach, dive-in movie nights, and more, friends and family will be able to reconnect over a wide variety of options, modified to meet new safety protocols,” the statement revealed.
“Travelers’ safety is reassured with the comprehensive Atlantis Clean & Safe Promise and the resort’s professional team members prepared and trained to attend to every guest’s well-being.”
To entice visitors in a globally dreary market, Atlantis is offering a limited time first night free offer for stays booked between November 10-22 and valid for stays between December 10-17 with a two-night minimum length of stay.
“For travelers flying from the New York Tri-State region, Atlantis Paradise Island has partnered with JetBlue on an air and resort package offering non-stop charter flights to Nassau, The Bahamas from Newark, New Jersey. Beginning January 3, 2021, guests who book this package will receive non-stop direct roundtrip air service from Newark to Nassau (Sunday to Sunday flights), seven-night accommodations in Atlantis’ renovated Royal East Tower, roundtrip airport transfers and a $75 daily dining credit per person,” the resort’s statement noted.
