Jackson Mactaggart performed well in the 2020 British Columbia (BC) Indoor Provincial Championships (Under-12) in British Columbia, Canada, over the weekend.
Mactaggart was seeded third in singles and second in doubles in the tournament.
In singles, Mactaggart finished the tournament with a 4-1 win-loss record in match play. He won over Paavo Skogster, 6-1 and 6-4; defeated Ryan Tomilin 6-1 and 6-4; prevailed over Luke Adrian in three sets, 6-4, 1-6 and 6-3; and defeated Christian Grecu, 6-0 and 6-1. Mactaggart’s only loss was to Hayden Grech in a three-setter, 2-6, 6-2 and 6-1.
Teaming up with Ewan Robertson, Mactaggart advanced to the doubles championship. He and Robertson played the number one team of Gary Jiany and Jeff Shen but came up short.
Prior to match play, Mactaggart was ranked in the top 20 in Under-12 Boys in singles and doubles in the Canadian national junior rankings.
The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) congratulates Mactaggart on this strong performance on the Canadian circuit. He is also The Bahamas’ number one player in the Under-12 Boys Division.
