Man fined for credit card fraud

A man who tried to buy an iPhone XS while using a bogus credit card has been fined.

Larrenty Munroe pleaded guilty to possession of a forged document, uttering a forged document and attempted fraud by false pretenses at his arraignment before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.

Munroe went to Furniture Plus in February 2018 and tried to buy the smartphone using the card. However, he fled the store after staff questioned the authenticity of the card.

Police caught up with Munroe this month and charged him with the offenses.

McKinney ordered Munroe to pay fines totaling $1,500 to avoid a six-month prison sentence.
