AD Hanna dies

Arthur D. Hanna, former deputy prime minister and The Bahamas’ seventh governor general, died at home today, the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) has confirmed.

He was 93.

Hanna, the father of Englerston MP Glenys Hanna-Martin, served as a member of Parliament for 32 years, having first been elected in 1960.
 
Hanna was appointed deputy premier following the attainment of majority rule in 1967, and, later deputy prime minister. He held that position until his resignation in 1984.
