In about a month-or-so, summer will wrap-up, but Bahamian social media sensation Tracey Ann “TAP” Perpall has aimed for levity this past month with her lighthearted, fun and flirty web show, “Brazen.”
With her toes in powdery soft sand and turquoise waters as the backdrop, TAP takes viewers on a wild ride with some of the country’s biggest influencers on her show, where she is joined by two guests who answer a series of questions, which can sometime prove to be the most hilarious moment of your day.
“It’s just meant to be very silly and sizzling and something that brings joy to people in these difficult times. I just wanted people to have something they can watch and laugh and enjoy and just brighten up their day,” says TAP.
“A lot of the questions are meant to be very fun and tongue and cheek. It’s not meant to be taken very seriously. We ask people about things like their summer escapades, adventures, dating, a lot of silly stuff. We make the questions very spicy so that if they refuse to answer they have consequences.”
TAP says she made the questions as spicy as she could because she wants to see people suffer a bit with the sheep tongue smoothies and the goat pepper and other consequences she offers.
She was joined on her season premiere by singer Bodine Johnson and “Who Dat” host Timmay.
The hilarity jumped through the screen, particularly in moments where the pair refused to answer or just took too long and had to suffer the consequences, indulging in the not-so-sweet punishment.
“We have a lot of interesting, creative and talented people who I wanted to show in a different light. I feel like with a lot of interviews, sometimes it’s very serious and I just wanted to show their fun side and just have a lot of challenges and silly fun with them.”
TAP has been in the creative industry for over a decade and has done it all – from having a puppet as a co-host, to traveling to Jamaica and hosting events, rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in entertainment.
For her, it’s about being true to herself, but not being afraid to try something new.
“I’ve always had a passion for creating and honestly, one of my biggest goals in life is to have a show,” TAP said.
“Growing up I was really inspired by people like Jimmy Fallon and Oprah. So, honestly, I’ve always been interested in serialized content and that’s how I’m making a bit of a transition from just vlogging or what people know me for. I’ve always had a passion for expressing myself …talking to other people. I’m always curious about how other people live and their experiences. So, this is just a natural extension of what I love to do and what I’ve always loved to do.”
TAP said looking at what’s happening around the world, with countries grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic, lives being lost, she got a push to fight and do everything it is that she has always wanted to do.
She said she wishes more people would live their life that way.
“I’m always willing to experiment. I’ve done documentaries, I’ve done television commercials. I’m never going to limit myself and box myself in. So, I’m always going to continue evolving and trying things. Like hey, if it doesn’t work, you fall down, you brush yourself off and try again. So, I’ve evolved a lot and I’m going to continue to challenge myself and be a student of life.
“I think it’s important to never be afraid to be corrected or to just try and have fun with it. This show, I haven’t done something like this in a long time. I was just trying and I had fun with it.”
