God is our refuge and strength

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. – Psalm 23:2-3

If ever there was a time in the affairs of our lives that we need divine guidance and protection, it is now. The turbulence, the fear, the mistrust, the confusion and the uncertainty give no other choice but to call upon the sovereign Lord for help.

The ever-evolving saga of COVID-19 has brought us to the “four corners” of vaccination, with multiple signs of direction as to what is and what is not the best vaccine to receive. But most of all, also coming to “four corners” in many lives is the decision not to take any of the vaccines.

Twenty-one days ago, I took my first shot, and in a day or two, I will take the remaining shot. Although I was invited to be among the first to take the vaccine, I declined, because for me, I was not led at the time. Like David, I always wait patiently on the Lord for decisions in my life.

Someone once challenged me as to why I serve God because I have never seen Him. I told the person that I see God every day and they were livid. I calmly told them that God is the clock on the wall, or the watch on your wrist. Never saying a word, but recording every word, action, thought and deed of our lives.

So, I prayed, ‘Lord bless this vaccine that I am about to take to do my body good for Jesus’ sake’, and took the first shot and went about my daily routine. I will repeat the same prayer for the second shot.

Dear faithful readers, God is our refuge and strength. He is our shepherd and He will not lead us in harm’s way. As sheep of His pasture, we are to be totally reliant on His leadership in the course of our lives. Even when the enemy creates traps and snares in our lives, the leadership of the shepherd of shepherds knows how to save us from any and all weapons formed against us to cause us harm and open shame.

This powerful, well-known and repeated Psalm of David is also posted at the “four corners” of decision in our lives. There is nothing to be fearful of if you truly believe that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and David is indeed your shepherd.

The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to His name.

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of mine enemies: You honor me by anointing my head with oil, my cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

My prayer for all those who have not yet taken the vaccine is to be totally reliant upon God and your faith in Him, that He is able to keep you from falling and keep you well. If you trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out.
