Dave Stewart Love’s Coming Back

The lyrics say it as plainly as can be – “Oh the simple things Not so simple anymore Taking things for granted Anything we wanted love’s coming back” – that is the message Dave Stewart of the Grammy winning Eurythmics was moved to write and produce in a special song aptly titled “Love’s Coming Back” featuring the vocals of Bahamian artist, Dayonna Brown.

Described by Stewart as a “rallying anthem”, he said the song is intended to raise the morale of the people of The Bahamas and the world.

“Love’s Coming Back”, the inspirational song will be released globally, virtually through Stewart’s label Bay Street Records on Tuesday, July 13 at 11 a.m., as The Bahamas and the world continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic and the easing of restrictions as people return to some sense of normality, and search for hope and assurance in an unprecedented era.

Proceeds from “Love’s Coming Back” will be used to raise funds in support of youth and environmental projects, managed by the Briland Aid organization and the Bahamas National Trust (BNT).

Briland Aid is a non-profit organization created in response to the COVID-19 crisis, committed to preserving the island’s most valuable asset – it’s people.

BNT is a non-profit, non-government, membership organization that relies on donations to continue conserving and protecting the Bahamian environment.

Dayonna, 19, was a school student whose voice at age 14, stood out to Stewart, when he shared his expertise in song writing and music production with the children in the schools over the years in Harbour Island.

He describes the vocals she lends to the track with an infectious hook as “warm.”

During its global virtual launch, Stewart and Dayonna’s “Love’s Coming Back” can be viewed on www.lovescomingback.com as well on social media platforms YouTube, Instagram and Facebook @lovescomingback. There will also be a simulcast release across all Bahamian radio and television stations as well as online music platforms including Spotify, Tidal, Deezer and iTunes.

Stewart may be best known as part of the Eurythmics, the duo he founded with Annie Lennox four decades ago.

Stewart co-wrote and produced each Eurythmics album along with Lennox in their world-famous duo.

In addition, he has co-written and produced album and songs with Tom Petty, Gwen Stefani, Jon Bon Jovi, Stevie Nicks, Mick Jagger, Bryan Ferry, Katy Perry, Sinead O’Connor, Joss Stone.

He won a Grammy Award in 1986 for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group with Vocal for “Missionary Man.”

Stewart’s label Bay Street Records is named after the street on which it’s located – Bay Street – on Harbour Island. It’s also right in front of the old fig tree which is mentioned in the song.

Whenever Brilanders hold a Junkanoo rush, it concludes outside his studio and he enthuses about having an absolute love for the sound of the drums and the brass section.

And then there’s the fact that this English transplant says he loves the whole comings and goings of people in the harbor, and everybody’s news and insight on all the talk going on.

Stewart who has visited The Bahamas and Harbour Island for more than a decade, moved to the island full time and became a Bahamian resident about three years ago. He was on Harbour Island when the pandemic kicked in and said he kept himself entertained by creatively using his time making music and even recorded an album with a half Jamaican, half Indian singer.

“I was writing songs for different people remotely, and then I was thinking, always of what would happen in the new normal, and so I joined in quite a few debates with many people in different parts of the world. Everybody from farmers to people working the travel industry talking about how things will be, and everything obviously is going to be slightly different and some of it radically different, so I spent most of my time doing things like that, and playing soccer against various people on the island.”

Stewart is also building a studio compound on Harbour Island, with a view to working with various artists overtime.

“At the moment, Dayonna who is taking the lead in the verses of this song “Love’s Coming Back” is a really great singer actually, and I’ve been working on a couple of songs for her, and then there is quite a few interesting rap artists and it will sort of organically fuse into things that I’m doing.”

Stewart who said he has always written stories, said there will be a story coming out in some form or the other – whether a book or a film or a documentary.” He said there’s some interesting modern-day stories to tell.

“At the same time, I’ve been writing a movie about my life as a young teenager and I’ve written a whole piece of music, well lots of songs about it, and it’s going to be made into a movie set in the Northeast of England where I’m front and will be on the stage as a musical and I’m busy writing another musical, ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’ based on the book ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’ and recording different artists, and generally music is inside of everything I do,” said the multi-talented English musician, songwriter and record producer.

Stewart has won Best British Producer at the 1986, 1987 and 1990 Brit Awards.

Beyond music, Stewart took a greater involvement in the film industry in 1989 by writing and producing the soundtrack and has directed music videos. He made his feature film directorial debut in 2000 with “Honest”, a black comedy set in swinging London in the late 1960s featuring three members of the British girl group All Saints. Stewart is the co-creator and executive producer of the 2012 ABC sitcom Malibu Country starring Reba McEntire. Stewart created and executive produces the NBC unscripted series Songland, which pulls back the curtain on the songwriting process and gives new songwriters a chance to have their original compositions recorded by an established artist, with a single released immediately following each episode. The debut season was won by Tebby Burrows who was born in Miami, and raised in The Bahamas.

Stewart has scored films for several directors, including Robert Altman, Paul Verho-ven and Ted Demme, and has written and produced the title songs for many hit movies. Together with Mick Jagger, Stewart wrote and produced the score for “Alfie” starring Jude Law, which won the pair a Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

Stewart’s vast experience in music, film, television, theater and live events has earned him many awards and he is highly respected as a creative force.

The seven-time Grammy nominee was inducted into the United Kingdom’s (UK)Music Hall of Fame in 2005, and won the Music Producers Guild Outstanding Contribution to UK Music Award in 2015. Eurythmics were nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
