17 additional COVID deaths confirmed

Seventeen additional COVID-19 deaths have been confirmed in The Bahamas, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health.

Seven deaths that were previously under investigation have been reclassified as COVID-19 deaths, and an additional ten deaths, all recorded this month, were identified as COVID deaths in the last two days.

As it relates to the reclassified cases, all of the victims were residents of Grand Bahama. According to the Ministry of Health, they died between April 7 and May 20 and were between the ages of 44 and 103.

Of the newer cases, the victims were between the ages of 31 and 87 and all but two were residents of New Providence. The other two victims were residents of Bimini and Eleuthera. The latest dashboard indicates that they died between July 3 and July 13.

Three of the victims were in their 30s.

The COVID-19 death toll now stands at 273.

Sixty-seven people remain in hospital – 60 are moderately ill and seven are in the intensive care unit (ICU).
