The COVID-19 death toll increased by five on Wednesday, according to the latest information from the Ministry of Health.
Officials confirmed the deaths of a 55-year-old Bimini man, a 56-year-old Exuma man, a 37-year-old man, a 76-year-old woman, and a 65-year-old woman, all from New Providence. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 279. The deaths were recorded between July 18 and July 20.
Additionally, 23 deaths remain under investigation.
The ministry also confirmed 67 additional cases of the virus — 55 on New Providence, six on Grand Bahama, two on Bimini, and four on Exuma.
The total of 13,847 cases were confirmed in The Bahamas since March 2020.
The ministry said 87 cases remain hospitalized, including 12 in the intensive care unit (ICU).
The Ministry of Health will hold a press conference today.
