Two men were charged yesterday with separate murders.
Delanzo Cartwright, 22, of Avacado Street, Pinewood Gardens, was charged with the murders of 10-year-old Lorencia Walkes and Peron Bain.
He also charged with the attempted murder of Leroy Sands, who was also wounded during the same shooting that killed Walkes and Bain on May 29.
Cartwright did not enter a plea to the charges when he made his initial court appearance before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.
Bail was denied and prosecutors intend to fast-track the case to the Supreme Court on October 8.
According to police, a group of people were outside a home on Iguana Way in Bel Air Estates when three gunmen emerged from a gold car and opened fire.
Walkes, a fifth grader at Sybil Strachan Primary, was shot in the head during the incident. She died in hospital nine days later.
Another suspect in a recent murder appeared in the same court yesterday.
Kendrick Lundy, 25, of Comfort Street, is accused of the June 3 shooting death of Angelo Lightbourne at Wilson Track.
Lundy, nicknamed Papa, did not have to enter a plea to the murder charge.
He walked with a limp and wore a sling on his right arm during his court appearance.
However, Lundy did not make any complaints about police brutality.
He was also remanded to prison and returns to court on October 8.
