There have been almost daily armed robberies since weekend lockdowns ended on June 12, according to police reports.
The most recent incident took place on Wednesday, when a man was approached by an armed man while in the parking lot of a business on Windsor Field Road around 8 p.m.
Police said the victim in that incident was robbed of his 2016 white Acura Sedan, cash and other personal property.
Police also reported that on Tuesday, shortly after 7 p.m., a woman at a home on St. Vincent Avenue, Elizabeth Estates, was robbed of her burgundy Nissan Cube by two men wearing hoodies – one of whom was armed with a silver handgun.
On Sunday afternoon, a man walking on Collins Avenue and Ninth Terrace around 3 p.m. was approached and robbed of a cell phone by two masked men – one of whom was armed with a handgun.
Police also said that last Friday, June 12, two women were sitting in a silver Nissan Cube in front of a home off Solider Road shortly before 8 p.m., when they were approached by two men armed with handguns who robbed them of the car and personal items.
Minister of National Security Marvin Dames said on Wednesday that armed robbery is down 30 percent and robbery is down 14 percent for the first five months of 2019 as compared to the same time last year.
