Fusion Superplex to reopen in second week of July

After suffering considerable loss, as many other businesses have during the emergency lockdown measures, Fusion Superplex will reopen by mid-July, its Chief Executive Officer Carlos Foulkes confirmed yesterday.

The entertainment center closed its doors in March and furloughed employees after Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis declared a state of public emergency, forcing all non-essential businesses to cease operations.

“Yes we suffered a great loss in revenue like most businesses for three months, but we plan to open in the second week in July. We are just waiting on some decent Hollywood content. Can’t have a cinema without the movies,” Foulkes told Guardian Business yesterday.

“As for the restaurants and other offerings, sure we are making adjustments for COVID-19 limitations, but we are returning and likely with 80 percent of our original employment level.”

Foulkes admitted the company endured financial difficulties in March, after revealing that it would not be able to make the payroll for its 350 employees.

He vehemently denied that the company was closing for good, saying, “Wow, that’s completely false.”

Foulkes said he’d be in a better position to provide more details on the property’s reopening in another week.

Fusion Superplex’s facility includes an IMAX cinema, 4DX cinema, XS3 cinema, Pure VIP theaters, a kids zone and an arcade.

In the culinary arena, the complex has the Altitude and Edge restaurants along with the SubZero Nitrogen ice cream bar, which also serves Starbucks products.
