Three suspects remain at large after authorities seized 815 pounds of marijuana during a bust on Friday.
The seizure took place in the Ragged Island chain around 11 a.m. and was the result of a joint operation between the US Coast Guard, DEA, DEU and the Marine Division, police spokesman ASP Audley Peters said.
While doing aerial surveillance, the team saw a white go-fast boat with three men on board.
As the aircraft neared the boat, the man abandoned the vessel in shallow waters.
They fled into a “wooded area”, Peters said.
Officers recovered 55 bales of marijuana from the ditched vessel.
The seized drugs have a street value of $815,000.
Police brought the drugs into New Providence after 11 p.m. on Friday.
Peters said they are following significant leads.
