A fusion of island chill with exhilarating fun

How brave are you? Because Thunderball is not for the faint of heart, an extreme freefall slide – a super-fast, straight down plummet that delivers an unforgettable rush – and is just one of a number of thrill slides among as 24-slide complement that were debuted at Baha Bay at Baha Mar at its official opening.

If you test your mettle on Thunderball and are up to even more of a challenge, then hold on tight for the Cyclone Rush where you ride out the storm on a multi-purpose raft that speeds around a huge swirling bowl, then up and back down a nearly vertical wall.

Hammerhead features high speeds and huge thrills: This multi-purpose raft slide rockets riders through tunnels, then up and around the walls of massive water saucers. And if you still have gumption left in you, the Devil’s Backbone has to be given a go because it will feel like the floor drops out from under you before you blast through looping and twisting tunnels that will keep you screaming until the end.

Then grab a friend for the Dueling Riptide Coaster where you’ll rocket through tunnels, spin around saucers and dive down steep slopes; this high-speed water coaster is a one-of-a-kind blast. You can also experience the thrill of surfing – with no lessons required – on The Surf, a fun FlowCurl surf simulator. And if by chance you still have a little bravado left at all, take a turn on Pirate’s Plunge, a high-action body slide that takes you through back-to-back turns and 360-degree loops before a final freefall plunge into the pool.

Thrill seekers can definitely “slake their adrenaline thirst” at Baha Bay, and after all the adrenaline rush, can chill out at Baha Bay Lagoon where they can wade out into the water from the beach area and ride the tides in a 500,000-gallon wave pool; or exhale and enjoy the island breeze as The River currents take them on a journey.

The kids have definitely not been left out. There is Stingray Cove where they speed down twisty slides, get drenched by the tipping bucket and splash through the battle zone in this kids’ area designed for maximum adventure. At Turtle Beach, kiddies can splash, slide and play all day in a place built just for the smallest guests. The kids can race their friends down slides that are just their size, and splash around in shallow pools.

Thursday’s official opening of Baha Bay, marks the completion of the next phase of development and a significant investment in the evolution of Baha Mar, since opening its doors over four years ago.

SBE is known for creating unforgettable culinary experiences. At The Market, you can expect to experience elevated casual fare from four of SBE’s iconic brands – Cleo Grill, Sam’s Crispy Chicken, Plant Nation and Chill.

Cleo Grill brings Mediterranean Street Food to elevated fast casual dining, where new yet familiar flavors are enhanced by worldly charm and Bahamian ingredients.

Sam’s Crispy Chicken, they say is where the chicken comes first – fried or grilled; bold or tame; dripping with yolk or piled high with “avo” – whatever your foodie cravings, at Sam’s Crispy Chicken they say they are what you need.

Plant Nation merges healthy ingredients and globally-inspired flavors to create one-of-a-kind plant-based dishes with all of the taste and none of the guilt.

Chill offers a contemporary beverage menu based on classic tropical frozen drinks as well as carefully crafted frozen cocktail classics.

Additional individual restaurants include the fames Sugar Factory, Umami Burger and Barracuda food trucks.

Sugar Factory, named “the most Instagrammed Restaurant in the United States” is an eatery and sweet shop known for its lavish dining room, legendary desserts and premium cocktails.

Umami Burger, originally invented and made famous in Los Angeles, are must-try burgers.

Baha Bay also features a casino gaming pavilion inside a waterpark, as well as the luxury Baha Bay Beach Club complete with 15 full-service private cabanas, daybeds, breathtaking infinity pools and poolside lounge areas for optimal seclusion and relaxation.

During its opening weeks, Baha Bay is exclusive to Baha Mar resort guests, and day passes are expected to be made available by late summer.
