The Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) and Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre (SRC) confirmed today that 23 people on the Male Ward at SRC tested positive for COVID-19 after a staff member who worked across three wards of the institution tested positive.
Of the patients testing positive, six presented with symptoms and another 17 were asymptomatic, officials said in a statement.
“All affected patients are now being cared for on isolated wards,” the statement added.
“Aggressive sanitization of wards at the institution continues as scheduled.”
The PHA statement came hours after Bahamas Nurses Union President Amancha Williams made the revelation on the COVID-19 cases at SRC to the media.
