Pair fined for drugs

A woman and her boyfriend were each fined $3,000 in connection with the seizure of three pounds of marijuana.

Kendshia Knowles, of Hawthorne Road, and Jerome Bain, of Market Street, pleaded guilty to drug possession with intent to supply at their arraignment before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.

The prosecutor, Inspector Timothy Bain, said that police went to Knowles’ home with a search warrant on November 4.

She opened the door and after police told her why they were there, she admitted that drugs were inside.

Then, according to Bain, she took the officers to a bedroom and showed them a black box in the bedroom.

Inside, the officers found four plastic wraps, containing a total of three pounds of weed.

Knowles told the officers that her boyfriend had brought the drugs there earlier in the day.

Both Knowles and Bain accepted the prosecution’s summary and were convicted.

They were each given the option of a $3,000 fine instead of six months in prison.
