St. Barnabas MP Shanendon Cartwright said he is mulling a possible run for deputy leader of the Free National Movement (FNM).
Cartwright made the comments during the party’s special convention on Saturday where Michael Pintard was elected party leader.
“Right now let me say this, I am in serious discussions about running for the deputy leader of the party. As soon as that decision is made, The Bahamas and most importantly, the Free National Movement will be made aware.”
Cartwright previously said that he was giving “serious consideration” to running for one of the leadership roles in the FNM.
The FNM intends to hold a full convention next February.
Cartwright was one of seven FNM MPs to win their seats in the September 16 general election.
The Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) won the remaining 32.
Cartwright secured 1,420 votes, while the Progressive Liberal Party’s Michael Halkitis got 1,309.
