Carnival flies Bahamian flags on two more ships

Carnival Cruise Line announced on Friday that it has reflagged two of its ships to The Bahamas’ ship registry, bringing the total number of ships to six.

The two additional vessels are the Carnival Legend and Carnival Spirit.

Carnival mentioned the reflagging in a statement hailing the visitation of Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis to the Carnival Mardi Gras, along with members of his Cabinet and other officials.

The Mardi Gras, Carnival’s first vessel to be fueled by liquefied natural gas, was flagged with the Bahamian flag this year.

Carnival President Christine Duffy hailed the prime minister’s visit and lauded the relationship between the cruise line and The Bahamas.

“We are thrilled to be visiting Nassau with our flagship Mardi Gras and welcoming Prime Minister Davis and his leadership team aboard,” said Duffy.

“Carnival has a longstanding relationship with The Bahamas and we look forward to working closely with the prime minister and his Cabinet as we continue to restart ships in our fleet, bring more guests to The Bahamas and demonstrate our commitment to the health, safety and well-being of our guests, crew and the destinations we visit.”

Senior Vice President of Compliance for Carnival Cruise Line Domenico Rognoni said in the statement that insight and cooperation from The Bahamas plays a key role in the company’s overall maritime operations.

“We value our business relationships across The Bahamas, whether our investments in destinations and facilities such as the Grand Bahama Shipyard, the local tourism and excursion partners that employ many Bahamian citizens, or the Bahamas Maritime Authority that shares our commitment to safety and environmental protection,” said Rognoni.

“We’re proud and honored to continue to expand the number of ships we have registered here,” said.

Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Sensation and Carnival Sunshine are the other Carnival ships registered in The Bahamas.
