Six patients have tested positive for COVID-19 at Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre (SRC), a hospital source confirmed on Friday.
The patients – three men and three women – were isolated and receiving treatment, The Nassau Guardian understands.
There were no COVID-positive cases in the Geriatric Hospital, according to the source, who added that SRC’s vaccination program, which was launched in March, is ongoing for patients.
In August, 23 people on the Male Ward at SRC tested positive for COVID-19 after a staff member who worked across three wards of the institution tested positive.
Forty-three cases were reported at SRC between July 1 and August 23.
Requests for comment on the number of COVID cases reported at SRC since March 2020, when The Bahamas reported its first COVID cases, went unanswered by health officials yesterday.
Two COVID patients were hospitalized at SRC as of Friday, according to the Ministry of Health.
