Over the weekend, IC (International Tennis Club) Bahamas, a subsidiary of the Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA), held its second junior tournament for the year.
The event was sponsored by the Winterbotham Trust Company Limited and was held at the Baha Mar Tennis Courts. Despite the heavy winds, tournament play got underway and competitive matches were held in both the 14-and-under (14U) boys and girls divisions.
In the 14-and-under girls category, BreAnn Ferguson was the winner while Sarai Clarke was the runner-up. In the 14-and-under boys category, Michael Major Jr. prevailed while Khai Rhees was the runner-up.
Congratulations are extended by the BLTA and IC Bahamas to the winners, runners-up and all of the players who participated in the tournament, as competitive play has resumed with the a number of safety protocols and measures in place.
Mickey Williams and Tara Mactaggart were the organizers of the event.
Meanwhile, the annual general meeting (AGM) of the BLTA is scheduled for Friday, March 19, starting at 7 p.m., via Zoom. All financial members are urged to take part.
The primary agenda item for the meeting is the incorporation of the BLTA. Members with outstanding membership dues can make their accounts current by making payments in person at the BLTA’s National Tennis Centre on Thursday, March 11 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., on Friday, March 12 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday, March 13 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
