Patrice Murrell, Julien Believe named Elevation Awards’ female and male artists of the year

Patrice Murrell and Julien “Julien Believe” Thompson claimed the top honors – Female Artist of the Year and Male Artist of the Year – respectively at the 2020 Elevation Awards, which this year took the format of a four-day virtual weekend experience.

Cara T. Newton took home the Gospel Song and Collaboration of the Year honors, while Jaquay “Das Quay” Adderley walked away with Entertainer and Sketch Comedian of the Year titles.

The New Artist and Traditional Song of the Year was won by Shine.

Najie Dun won Gospel Artist and Gospel Music Video of the Year.

Baha Men claimed Music Video of the Year honors.

Zhane’o Newbold took home the People’s Choice Award.

Isaiah Taylor was awarded the Ronnie Butler Lifetime Achievement Award.

Andrew “Drew Harmony” Gardiner was awarded the Trailblazer Award.

A mash-up Rake n’ Scrape performance featuring Shine, Blaudy, and Nishie LS, followed by a performance by Murrell singing her latest single “Be Ok” opened the Elevation Awards event held live virtually on the Elev8tion Now Platform via Facebook, hosted by Apryl Donna and Kedar Clarke.

During the event a tribute mash-up was paid to the late MDeez featuring Judah Tha Lion, BoBo Ken and Jay Shephard.

Victor Johnson also performed a bass tribute to Isaiah Taylor.

And Wendi performed a medley of her latest hits – “In Front of You” and “Walk Out”.

Cara T. Newton and Eman delivered a gospel medley of their hits – “He Reigns” and “I Just Need a Minute.”

Also winning awards were Twindem, “Hip Hop Artist of the Year; Judah Tha Lion, Contemporary Song of the Year for “Hallway”; Bamboo Shack, TV Commercial of the Year for “National Boyfriend Day”; Freedom March, Radio Talk Show of the Year; Beyond the Headlines, TV Talk Show of the Year; and Anneisha Jones, Short Film of the Year for “Behind the Beat: Unmasking the Bahamian Sound.”

DJ Godson, won Party DJ of the Year; Shawn Hanna won Photography of the Year; Allan Wallace won Visual Artist of the Year; Tebby took home the BIA Award; Leon won Collaboration of the Year for “On My Mind” featuring DJ Ovadose; Jay Shephard took home the Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year for “Real One”; The New Sawyer Boy Show captured TV Series of the Year and Nakhaz took home Hip Hop Song of the Year for “I’m A Bahamian.”

Latoya’s Laughs won VLOG of the Year; Dyson Knight won Soca Song of the Year for “I Can Do It”; Kyle Ferguson won Video Producer of the Year behind Jiggy Productions; 10th Year Seniors took home Blog of the Year; Freddy “Got Stykez” Seymour won Music Producer of the Year; Kes took home Caribbean Music Video of the Year for “Savannah Grass”; Sherwin Gardner won Caribbean Gospel Song of the Year for “Trouble”; Positive took home Caribbean Gospel Music Video of the Year for “We Go Dancing”; and Koffee was a double winner for Caribbean Song of the Year for “Toast” and also earned the Caribbean Artist of the Year award.
