A 21-year-old man accused of having sex with a minor was on Monday denied bail.
Prosecutors allege that Ashton Sturrup, 21, of University Drive, had unlawful sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl on May 29.
Sturrup was not required to enter a plea to the charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.
She denied bail because magistrates lack the jurisdiction to consider bail for the offence.
Sturrup returns to court on September 8.
At that time, prosecutors intend to fast-track the matter to the Supreme Court for trial.
