A 90-year-old man, who was COVID-19 positive, died in hospital this morning, health officials have confirmed.
This is The Bahamas’ sixth COVID-19 related death.
There have been 33 confirmed cases of the virus in the country – 27 on New Providence, five on Grand Bahama and one on Bimini.
While providing an update on the COVID-19 patients in the House of Assembly on Monday, Health Minister Dr. Duane Sands said three of them were “very ill”.
He added that eight were stable and two were candidates for discharge. He said the remaining patients were at home in isolation.
Dr. Sands provided the update before the Ministry of Health announced four additional cases of COVID-19.
The Ministry of Health is expected to release an update on the COVID-19 cases later today.
